Dear Sir,

Confirming my respects of 31st, presscopy of which I hereby enclose, I have to communicate to you that I have chartered the British Barque Kedar to take a cargo of rice from Sado or Niigata to Yokohama. Mr. Bloem, who proceeds in that vessel to your port, is entrusted with the care of the rice as also with the sale of some cotton and woolen goods I put on board. Should Mr. Bloem be unable to sell those goods or in any other way require your assistance you will please lend him your support.
In the case of your disposing of the goods on my behalf I allow you a commission on the sale of 2 1/2 %.
As regards the Kebon Dalem, a Dutch steamer to my address, which is leaving via Aomori for your port, I beg to refer to the enclosed letter of Mr.Bauduin.
I shall be glad to receive account sales of the goods you sold already for my acount, as also the nett proceeds which please forward by the first safe opportunity.
