Dear Sir
I am in receipt of your private lines, dated 22d last month, and hardly need to mention that its contents rather surprised me.
Last year, Mr. Bauduin assured me distinctly, that is was not your intention to establish yourselves at this place. He promised to do all bussiness principly with me, provided I would keep you as well informed as other houses. I think I have done this to the full extent of the word and have worked of the best of my power in order to satisfy you.
When the Kedar was here, I have spared no time and troubles in order to get the rice for her, and there is no doubt, but that without my interference and the various letters, which I wrote to the Governor about it, Mr. Bloem never would have got any cargo for the Kedar.
Still I have not charged you any commission on it, thinking that you would sooner or later recompensate me for all my troubles by extensive consignments
In contrary however of all my exertions on your behalf, I find myself grosssly disapointed in my just expectations.
My market reports served on to give you the neccesary material for making up a cargo for your sales and Mr. Mees is send to earn the fruits of my labor.
If you had given me two or three months precious notice of your intention to establish a branch of your house here, it would not have been but fair. But requesting me only a few weeks ago, to continues my mar(ket) reports regularly, and after having received the same, immediately send a manager to this place,(?) - more but unfair!
I think that a house of your standing, ought not to profit of the labor of a young beginner as I am, but should in contrary show even more fairness, as when deal with firms of equal rank.

I am
Dear Sir

Your obedt servt
